What does Merida and Katniss have in common?

They are both good in Archery, oh, not pala good lang, they are super duper good in that aspect. haha…And because I like Katniss and Merida, I also want to experience playing Archery. #bucketlist
Archery is the art, practice, or skill of propelling arrows with the use of a bow which is “arcus” in Latin.
Mommy Ethel, a fellow Mommy Blogger invited a few Mommy Bloggers to try archery at Kodanda Archery Range. I was lucky nakahabol ako sa list, thanks to Mommy Rackell who informed me about it. Kaya naman sabay ang schedule namin ni Mommy Rackell. Mas masaya kasi if may kasamang friend di ba, hehe…
Kodanda, means “he who has a bow”(sanskrit origin).

Before playing, the staff of Kodanda, Kuya Ver, assisted me in putting the necessary gears for playing.

Then another staff orient and taught me the proper posture and correct handling of the bow and arrow and how to hold, aim, and shoot. First reminder is that we should listen daw muna sa whistle before shooting baka nga naman may matamaan kami. Then another whistle if kukunin na namin ang mga arrows sa target sheet.

And because it is my first time, kinakabahan ako baka kung saan tumama yung arrow, worst is baka tumama sa ibang tao…hahahaha…
Playing archery is aiming for the bull’s eye, in my first few shots, sa gilid lang ng target tumatama ang arrow. After warming up (naks), naka-bull’s eye ako mga friendhsip! Yehey! (insert happy dance)…

I did not know paano ko ginawa yun, I only followed Kuya Ver’s instructions eh. I am so proud of myself. I am not bragging ha, it just gave me confidence, kaya ko pala mag-excel kahit first time kong ginawa. Kaya lang di ko na naulit ang bull’s eye. hahaha…
After playing for an hour, this is my target sheet looks like, not bad for a first timer. ^_^

Super bitin yung 1 oras mommy! Ang sarap lang ng feeling, let's try it again.. Crossed out na sya sa bucketlist natin ha and of course Congratulations! Naka bulls eye ka, samantala ako saktong sakto.. Sakto sa labas ng paper. Hehe.
Naku, I went there by myself lang. Sama dapat si hubby kaso nabusy sa work. Buti nalang na enjoy ko din. Feeling Katniss takaga ko!

I joined the archery club when I was in high school, only hanggang first two meetings lang ako then tinamad nako. It was after classes kasi so medyo late na. Though I would love to give it another try. Hopefully mapuntahan ko yung place sometime next year 😀
I tried this once a few years back in one of our outings. Unlike you, I didn't get the bull's eye but it was fun!

awhile back my son was jonesing to be an archer because he's seen too much of Brave and Juan Dela Cruz, maybe i'd let him try Kodanda when he's a bit bigger. + maybe i should try it, too! this really looks like a very interesting sport
